It is not important what topic you come with, what matters is your willingness to solve it.
Is my topic worth consulting a psychologist?
It depends only on you, there is no universal measure of what deserves attention and what doesn't. To simplify, the topics could be divided, for example, as follows:
Solving acute problems - something went wrong and I need help.
In the Czech environment, it is still the most common form of psychological care. With clients, I focus on solving actual, more serious problems, either through short-term consultations or longer-term therapeutic cooperation.
Prevention - nothing dramatic is happening, but I want to consult.
Even if we aren't dealing with any major problem, some minor issues may occur, something isn't going as we would like, or maybe we just don't feel well and we don't know why. Still, it can be beneficial to look a little deeper at what is happening inside us. Because it is much easier to repair just a small hole in the roof while it just drips through than to replace the entire roof.
Self-development - I'm satisfied, but nothing lasts forever, so I'm looking for where to go next.
Many people do not have any serious problems but they naturally look for ways to improve their lives, to fulfill their potential, to do something meaningful, to have fulfilling relationships, to solve conflicts constructively, etc. Ultimately, focusing on self-development is the best form of prevention.
